About Cocoa
Cocoa is grown almost exclusively in a narrow band near the equator, with CΓ΄te d'Ivoire and Ghana together producing roughly 60% of global supply. In 2024, cocoa prices reached an all-time high above $11,000/MT β surpassing copper per tonne β driven by severe El NiΓ±o-related crop failures and a disease outbreak (CSSV) devastating West African trees. Given the 5β7 year maturation period for new cocoa trees, supply responses to high prices are structurally slow, creating persistent price pressure.
