FCOJ (Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice) futures are primarily driven by Florida and Brazil orange crop conditions, with Florida historically the world's second-largest producer. Citrus greening disease (HLB), caused by an incurable bacterial infection spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, has devastated Florida's grove count by over 75% since 2005. This structural supply collapse — combined with back-to-back hurricane damage — pushed FCOJ prices to all-time highs above $5/lb in late 2023, a level that fundamentally reshaped the market.
