About Chainlink
Chainlink is a decentralised oracle network that connects smart contracts to real-world data, APIs, and off-chain computation, founded by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis in 2017. Because blockchains cannot natively access external information, Chainlink acts as a secure middleware layer — aggregating data from multiple independent node operators to prevent any single point of failure or manipulation. LINK is the token node operators must stake as collateral (and receive as payment) to incentivise honest reporting of off-chain data. Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is becoming the industry standard for secure token transfers and messaging between different blockchains.
